George Thomas Jr. is a lifelong Macon resident who believes faith without action is not enough. Raised with strong values by his family, George learned early that service, integrity, and hard work are the foundation of true leadership. He is also a proud 2024 Leadership Macon alumnus, further strengthening his commitment to civic engagement and community leadership.

George currently serves as Chair of the ESPLOST Committee, helping ensure tax dollars are invested directly into improving schools and facilities.

He is also a member of the 100 Black Men of Macon Middle Georgia, where he serves as chair of the College and Career Fair, connecting students with colleges, employers, and career opportunities. In addition, George serves on the Central Georgia Joint Development Authority, supporting responsible economic development and renewable energy initiatives.

Beyond these roles, George serves on school councils, advisory boards, and community organizations because he believes that if you see a need, you step up to help meet it. As a husband and father, George understands the pressures facing working families and is committed to fighting for a future where opportunity is within reach for everyone.

Affordability
Homeownership is becoming a dream instead of a reality for working families. Housing prices continue to rise while wages struggle to keep pace. George supports strengthening first-time homebuyer programs, expanding down payment assistance, and creating policies that help families build long-term stability and generational wealth.

Healthcare
Healthcare costs are too high, forcing too many Georgians to choose between care and basic necessities. Georgia has fallen behind in expanding access to healthcare, leaving families without coverage. George supports expanding access to affordable healthcare so no one is left behind.

Stronger Schools
George supports strengthening public schools while easing the financial burden on local districts. His plan includes implementing high-dosage tutoring to help students close learning gaps, investing in more school-based mental health professionals, and providing free school meals for all public school students. George also supports reducing the required employer contribution to the Teacher Retirement System from 20 percent to 15 percent so school districts can reinvest more resources directly into classrooms and teachers.

Public Safety

George supports a Safer Communities Initiative that strengthens public safety by supporting law enforcement while investing in proven violence prevention strategies. His plan includes state-funded community violence intervention programs that help identify and engage individuals most at risk of violence, conflict mediation and crisis response teams that work to interrupt violence before it escalates, and investments in job training, youth programs, and mental health services that address the root causes of crime.
